This collection includes a series on chairs as a subject. Throughout history chairs have been a powerful symbol, representing everything from authority, luxury, isolation, a refuge of the mind, to psychoanalysis. I like to think of chairs as a symbol of leisure and conviviality, sometimes suggesting a narrative.

Instead of painting the traditional foreground, middleground and background included in traditional landscapes, I often prefer to take a closer view a particular subject. Compositions, patterns and colors at close range interest me, inceasingly.
